Applications open for the Community Housing Growth Fund

Non-profit and co-operative housing groups in Nova Scotia can now apply for support through the Community Housing Growth Fund.

The $2.5 million fund provides financial support, tools and expertise to enable community housing providers to increase the supply of affordable housing options in the province.

“Growing the community housing sector is essential to increasing the supply of affordable housing in Nova Scotia,” said Municipal Affairs and Housing Minister John Lohr. “The Community Housing Growth Fund will spur innovation and help groups access the tools and expertise to develop projects and effectively manage ongoing operations.

The Community Housing Transformation Center will administer the program and allocate funds to approved projects over the next two years. Grants are available to support:

  • Capacity Building
  • planning and pre-development
  • research and innovation.

The fund will also support the creation of a new provincial non-profit housing association – as recommended by the Nova Scotia Affordable Housing Commission – which will contribute to the growth and long-term sustainability of the community housing sector.
