After the mass shooting in Thailand, families mourn the loss of children

UTHAI SAWAN, Thailand—Thawatchai Sriphu liked to play hide and seek and pestered his grandmother for money for snacks. The four-year-old was among 36 people, mostly children, who were killed in a brutal massacre Thursday at a daycare center in the northeast of the country.

The shooter was a former police officer identified as Panya Kamrab, 34, who attacked the center during the early afternoon siesta. He shot victims with a 9mm handgun, used a knife to stab many of them, and continued shooting as he walked home, killing others on the way. He later committed suicide after murdering his wife and child in their home.
