The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has expressed “serious concerns” over the safety of the national team following their arrival in Rabat, Morocco, for the Africa Cup of Nations final on Sunday.
Senegal are aiming to win the competition for the second time, having won the trophy in 2022, against hosts Morocco.
The players were mobbed by fans trying to take selfies and had to force their way onto the team bus after arriving in the capital by train on Friday.
In a press release, the FSF also complained about the hotel, the number of tickets given to its supporters and said it was unhappy at being offered a training ground at the headquarters of the Moroccan team.
The FSF said the “lack of adequate security” put players and staff “at risk.”
“What happened yesterday was not normal,” said Senegalese coach Pape Thiaw.
“Given the numbers there, anything could have happened. My players could have been in danger.
“This kind of thing should not happen between two brotherly countries.”
