A vehicle plunges into the Lachine Canal


A vehicle plunged into the Lachine Canal on Sunday afternoon after hitting a guardrail in the borough of LaSalle, in Montreal.

According to information from the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), the vehicle was traveling on rue Lapierre at a very high speed around 3 p.m. when it hit the guardrail near rue Saint-Patrick before to finish its race in the water.

At this time, it is impossible to know how many people were in the car.

Divers from the SPVM’s tactical intervention group and a nautical team from the Montreal Fire Department are on the scene to find the vehicle’s occupant(s).

Investigators specializing in collision investigation will go on site to determine the circumstances surrounding this accident.
