A trio of pedestrians hit by cars in nearby Calgary neighborhoods on Thursday – Calgary


Two pedestrians were struck by vehicles within a few hundred yards of each other Thursday afternoon in Calgary’s Vista Heights neighborhood.

The first was just before 4 p.m. at the corner of Valleyview Road and 19th Street NE

Emergency medical services and police confirmed that a five-year-old child had been hit by a car. This child was transported to Alberta Children’s Hospital.

And at 5 p.m., a 50-year-old man was hit near 19th Street at 18th Avenue NE – just over 200 yards from the previous collision – in what Calgary police said was a hit and run.

EMS said the man was in serious but stable condition and was being taken to hospital.

The third collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian occurred at Center Street and 56 Avenue NE just before 5:30 p.m., near Thorncliffe.

A child was struck by a vehicle there, suffering non-life-threatening injuries, EMS said. Police noted that the driver involved in this incident remained at the scene.

Police are asking anyone with information about the hit and run to call the CPS non-emergency line at 403-266-1234.
