A journalist has been arrested by Pakistani police on charges of helping his son who allegedly beat his wife to death in their suburban home.

Police officer Mohammad Faizan said Ayaz Amir, a well-known television columnist and political analyst in Pakistan, appeared in a court in the capital Islamabad on Sunday accused of helping his son, FOX news reported.

Police are reportedly investigating his alleged role in the death of Sara Inam, 37, who married Amir’s son Shahnawaz four months ago.

Inam was reportedly killed by Shahnawaz at the couple’s home on Friday after an argument over a family issue. Shahnawaz was arrested and police say he confessed to repeatedly hitting his wife with a barbell and then later trying to hide her body in a bathtub, FOX reported.
