A new secure exchange zone in Verdun

As online commerce grows in popularity, many citizens dread the moment of finalizing the transaction in person. This is because some ill-intentioned people can invite themselves to sales sites such as Marketplace Where Kijiji.

That’s why the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) has set up seven new secure exchange zones where fans of online sales sites can go to complete their transactions with peace of mind.

One of them is in Verdun, near neighborhood station 16, at 750 rue Willibrord. These places are permanently lit and monitored by camera and are accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The other 6 new zones are in L’Île-Bizard, Lachine, Villeray – Parc-Extension, Saint-Léonard, Mercier – Hochelaga-Maisonneuve and Pointe-aux-Trembles.

A total of eleven secure exchange zones are now in service on SPVM territory. The SPVM indicates that by setting up these zones near neighborhood police stations, individuals with fraudulent interests are unlikely to commit their crime.
