A motorcyclist fights for his life after a collision with a car in Shefford

SHEFFORD-OUEST, QC — A 47-year-old motorcyclist is fighting for his life after a collision with a car in Shefford, Estrie.
The accident occurred around 3:45 p.m. on Route 243. The motorcycle reportedly struck a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction that was making a turn.
“According to initial information, the collision occurred when the vehicle traveling on the 243 northbound turned to enter the access ramp for Highway 10,” said the information officer. Nicolas Scholtus, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The motorcyclist was taken to hospital, as was his passenger.
“The first was taken to hospital. He is in serious condition and we have reason to fear for his life. The woman suffered serious injuries. She was taken to the hospital as well, but there is no fear for her life,” Scholtus said.
The driver of the vehicle suffered a nervous shock. He was treated at the scene by paramedics.
An SQ accident reconstruction specialist was dispatched to the scene.
The Sûreté du Québec investigation is ongoing.
