A 34-year-old man was shot and injured last night on rue Bergevin in the borough of LaSalle. The authorities were alerted around 1:45 a.m., by several calls made to 911.
When they arrived at the scene, the police located the victim in a car, at the intersection of rue Bergevin and rue Clément. Shot in the upper body, the victim was however conscious. She was transported to hospital and there is no danger to her life.
“According to initial information, the victim was in a car parked on rue Bergevin, and was sitting in the driver’s seat. A 31-year-old man was in the front passenger seat. Suddenly, a suspicious vehicle would have passed near the victim’s vehicle and then fired in their direction and fled before the arrival of the police,” explains Caroline Chèvrefils, media relations officer for the Montreal Police Department ( SPVM).
The scene was protected so that investigators could shed light on the circumstances of the incident. A canine unit was also dispatched to the scene.
The passenger in the vehicle, who did not sustain any injuries, is known to the police. The victim, on the other hand, is not.
Witnesses to this event, which caused a gunshot wound to LaSalle, were met by the police. At this point, there have been no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.
