The volunteers were divided into three groups to cover the huge territory. A contagious climate of excitement reigned among those responsible for downtown Gaspé.

« This is the first year that people have really come to us to say that they are going to vote for us, » said Thomas Poulin, who worked for the local association of Gouin, the riding of Chief Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois for a long time. .

Seeing the growing attraction for the values of Québec solidaire (QS) in the region where he grew up, and with a well-known candidate like the former regional director of Public Health Yv Bonnier-Viger, he knew that it was time to help.

For those in solidarity, the Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) does not seek interest from the Gaspésiens.

« People back home are not attracted to a centralizing government, » said Poulin.

For them, the real confrontation is with the outgoing MP, Méganne Perry Mélançon.

« A lot of people like Méganne, but tell us that she is not in the right party, » summarized Victoria Pineda, responsible for volunteers for the Gaspé sector of QS.
