A child is fatally struck by a train in Mississauga, Ontario
MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — The Peel Regional Police Service announced that a child died after being hit by a train in Mississauga, Ont., on Tuesday.
The accident reportedly happened in the evening and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the police, the impact took place in the area of Lolita Gardens Street and Silver Creek Boulevard.
In a Twitter post, Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie revealed the child was only four years old.
She emphasized that the loss of a child is a tragedy and her heart was with the bereaved family and loved ones.
A police investigation is ongoing and officers have released very few details about the circumstances of the death.
