The Pointe-de-l’Île Business and Industry Committee (CGAIPDI) and the Caisse Desjardins de Pointe-aux-Trembles raised $50,000 for the Center des Femmes Montréal-Est/Pointe-aux -Tembles.
The money was raised during the La Soirée à l’Italienne benefit dinner. It will be used to help build the Maison Gisèle Pomerleau. This aims to provide second-stage housing for women who are victims of domestic violence.
Construction of the project began on November 3. It will include 20 residences to help women restart their lives free from violence.
The event took place at the Club de Golf Métropolitain d’Anjou on November 4th. Nearly 350 people took part. The Electric Street Band, which comes from the region, provided the musical atmosphere for the evening.
A second fundraising dinner will be held in the spring, for the benefit of the Breakfast Club.
