According to recent trends, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading in the Pune Municipal Council election results.
Current figures show the BJP leading with 90 seats, putting it well ahead of other parties as counting continues. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) comes second with 20 seats, followed by the Indian National Congress (INC), which comes first with 8 seats.
Pune Municipal Corporation Election Results Trends 2026
Voting took place on Thursday, January 15, for all 29 municipal corporations, including Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Nashik and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
About PMC Elections 2026
The PMC election saw a total of 1,165 candidates contesting for 165 seats in 41 wards of the city civic body. The Pune Municipal Corporation recorded a final turnout of 52.42%.
Pune is also closely watched as two opposing factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and his uncle, Rajya Sabha MP Sharad Pawar, have forged an alliance for the municipal elections.

Exit polls for the Pune Municipal Corporation elections point to a victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). It is likely to win around 70 of the 165 seats, while Ajit Pawar’s NCP may get 55. Sharad Pawar’s NCP is likely to win 10 seats, while the Shiv Sena (Shinde), which contested the elections independently, may win 12 seats.
What happened in 2017?
The last Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) election was held on February 21, 2017, in which 55.45% of eligible voters participated, choosing from 1,090 candidates.
The BJP won a clear victory with 97 of the 162 seats. The NCP was second with 39 seats, while Shiv Sena won 10, Congress got nine, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) got two and AIMIM won one, with the remaining four seats going to independents and others.

Following the election, BJP’s Mukta Tilak was made mayor and Navnath Kamble became deputy mayor.
