Samsung appears to be changing the way it releases major updates. After releasing One UI 8.0 ahead of schedule, the company is now gearing up to release One UI 8.5. What’s surprising is that this mid-release update would also have its own beta program, which could start later this year, perhaps in late November 2025.

Let’s take a closer look at what One UI 8.5 could offer, when it might be released, and which devices might be eligible to try it out first.

Samsung’s upcoming One UI 8.5 is said to bring refined visuals and deeper AI integration. Early builds revealed several new features and improvements, including AI notification summaries, call screening, customizable quick settings, redesigned system apps, refreshed icons, new lock screen styles, smart network switching, NFC-based quick sharing, private view mode, and a native double-tap gesture.

One UI 8.5 Beta Expected Release Date

Although Samsung has not given an official release date, reports indicate that the One UI 8.5 beta may begin in the last week of November 2025 or the week that begins November 24, 2025. This means that after or on November 24, Samsung may launch the One UI 8.5 beta program for Galaxy devices.

The official release of One UI 8.5 is expected to take place in early 2026 along with the upcoming Galaxy S26 series.

Which devices could benefit from the One UI 8.5 beta?

Samsung has not yet confirmed the list of devices. But looking at the previous updates, we expect the latest Galaxy S and Galaxy Z series to be part of the beta program. The beta program will likely launch in select countries first, including South Korea, the United States, Germany, and India, as Samsung usually begins testing in these regions.

Galaxy S series:

  • Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, S25 Ultra (and maybe S25 Edge)
  • Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, S24 Ultra

Galaxy Z series:

  • Galaxy Z Flip 6, Z Fold 6
  • Galaxy Z Flip 7, Z Fold 7

Keep an eye out for news in the coming weeks, especially as we approach November 2025. If you own a recent Galaxy flagship phone, you may have the chance to try out the One UI 8.5 beta before its official launch.

Note: Please keep in mind that this information is not yet officially confirmed by Samsung. These details are based on leaks, reports, and Samsung’s past update patterns. Things could change before the final announcement.
