A woman died Monday of an apparent medical issue at Disneyland after riding the Haunted Mansion ride, a spokesperson for the city of Anaheim, California, said.
“This appears to be an unfortunate medical episode, and our hearts go out to the family,” the spokesperson said.
Anaheim Fire and Rescue responded to Disneyland around 6:30 p.m. following a report of a woman in her 60s unresponsive. When they arrived, Disneyland security had already begun CPR, the spokesperson said.
The Orange County Sheriff-Coroner will determine the cause of death. The office did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday.
The Haunted Mansion ride moves slowly and has “mildly scary scenes” but is safe for children, Disney says on its website. It features ghosts but the ghosts are friendly, the theme park assures visitors.
There was no indication the ride had an operating problem and it has reopened, the Anaheim spokesperson said.
