Leading governance and legal experts say the current tension within Tata’s trusts must be resolved quickly and internally to prevent any long-term impact on Tata’s sons or its listed companies. According to sources, Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met Tata Trusts Chairman Noel Tata, Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran and directors Darius Khambatta and Venu Srinivasan amid growing differences within the trusts. Four directors are said to have challenged Noel Tata’s leadership, operating as a “super board” within the trusts.

Tata Capital Ltd.’s initial public offering was fully subscribed on the third and last day of its subscription on Wednesday October 8. Of the 33.34 crore shares on offer, investors have submitted 50.09 crore shares, so far. The portion reserved for retail investors is 96% subscribed so far, offerings with 15.89 crore shares, against the 16.61 crore shares allocated to them. Retail investors could bid for a lot of 46 stocks with a minimum investment of ₹14,996 and then bid in multiples thereafter.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has said the UK will not pursue a visa deal with India ahead of his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 9. Starmer arrived in Mumbai on Wednesday October 8 with a trade delegation. “That’s not part of the plans,” he told reporters en route to India when asked about visas, adding that the visit was “to take advantage of the free trade agreement that we already have.”
