President Donald Trump has appointed a senior Maga manager and his close confidant Sergio Gor as the next United States ambassador to India. Gor was appointed almost seven months after Trump has taken an oath as a president for a second term. However, Gor can only go to India as an ambassador that his appointment has been approved by the American Senate.

At 38, Gor should become the youngest ambassador in the United States to India. Like Eric Garcetti and Kenneth Juster, Gor is not a career diplomat either, but a politician. However, what makes his appointment extremely important to India is the fact that he is part of the president’s entourage and that he counts on him. He is also considered extremely loyal to the president, said a source at CNBC-TV18 on condition of anonymity.

This is the first time that an American ambassador to India has been entrusted with the burden of special envoy for the affairs of South Asia and Central Asia. While GOR will be in office in India, he will supervise the developments and work in close collaboration with the American ambassadors in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tadjikistan, Turkmenistan and Ouzbistan.

His appointment would be crucial to India at a time when relations between India and the United States are put to the test due to the threat of customs duties of 50 % on Indian products. President Trump had imposed customs duties of 25 % on August 1 on Indian products, then announced an additional right of 25 % due to the purchase by India from Russian oil. GOR’s presence in New Delhi could help the southern block break the ice and reduce tensions between India and the United States.

In recent months, President Trump has openly called for closer ties with Pakistan and has announced a trade agreement with this country. While Pakistan thanked Trump for the ceasefire after the Sindoor operation, India has always argued that the United States had no role in a case of a purely bilateral nature. The presence of Sergio Gor could help India convince the Trump administration of the role of Pakistan in supporting terrorist groups and the greater importance of Indo-American relations.

GOR is currently director of the White House Personnel Office, responsible for helping the president recruit, select and appoint more than 4,000 politicians in the federal government.

Gor has worked closely with Donald Trump and has played an important role in his electoral campaigns in the last decade. He is also co-founder of Winning Team Publishing, a conservative publishing house that has published some of Trump’s best-selling books. According to the publishing house website, Gor has worked with many successful authors, including Donald Trump Jr, Rand Paul, Charlie Kirk and Eric Bolling.

A graduate of George Washington University, Gor has worked a lot in the national political field, notably in the House of Representatives of the United States, in the American Senate and in many presidential campaigns.

President Trump, in an article on Truth Social, described Sergio Gor as a great friend who has been by his side for many years and someone in whom he has fully confidence.
