The motion Picture Association urged Openai on Monday to “take immediate and decisive measures” against its new model of video creation Sora 2, which is used to produce content which, according to it, undermines copyright.

Following the deployment of the Sora application last week, users invaded the platform with clips generated by AI featuring characters from emissions and popular brands.

“Since the release of Sora 2, the videos that affect films, programs and characters of our members have proliferated on the Openai service and on social networks,” said Charles Rivkin, CEO of MPA, in a press release.

The CEO of Openai, Sam Altman, said in a blog article that the company would give rights to “more granular” rights on how their characters are used.

But Rivkin said that Optai “must recognize that he is responsible for their responsibility – and not that of rights holders – to prevent any violation of the Sora 2 service”, and that “a well -established copyright law protects the rights of creators and applies here”.

Openai did not respond to a comment request.

Concerns erupted immediately after the creation of Sora’s videos last week, showing everything, from James Bond playing poker with Altman with body camera images Mario leaking the police.

Although Openai previously had an unsubscription system, which imposed on studios to ask that the characters do not appear on Sora, the Altman tracking blog post indicated that the platform passed to an unsubscription model, suggesting that Sora would not allow the use of characters protected by copyright without authorization.

However, Altman noted that society may not be able to prevent any abusive use of intellectual property.

“There may be extreme cases of generations that should not get out of it, and for our battery to work well, it will take some iterations,” wrote Altman.

Copyright concerns have become a major problem during the generative AI boom.

Disney And Universal continued the creator of Images Ai Midjourney in June, alleging that the company used and distributed characters generated by AI from their films and had not taken into account stop requests. Disney also sent a letter of cessation and abstention to the startup of IA Character.ai in September, warning the company to stop using its characters protected by copyright without authorization.
