Born on October 20, 1957 in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu, Radhakrishnan belongs to the Gounder-Kongu Vellalar community, classified as Other Backward Classes (OBC). Before running for Vice President of India, Radhakrishnan was the Governor of Maharashtra.
