Funcom, the company belonging to Tencent behind the survival mmo Dune: Awakeningmakes major changes, in particular to dismiss staff and close Metal: Hellsinger Developer foreigners.

Dune: Awakening had a promising launch, selling a million copies and becoming the “fastest sale game of all time” less than two weeks after its release in June. And in a declaration on dismissals shared with Gamesindustry.bizFuncom said Dune: Awakening was “the biggest outing that we had in our 32 -year history to make big games” and “has already shown incredible potential”.

However, “the transition of long -term live development development, while building towards a large version of console next year, will force us to restructure our teams and concentrate our resources from projects and studios,” said Funcom. “Unfortunately, this also means having to say goodbye to sweethearts.” The company “cannot yet determine the exact impact”.

Restructuring seems to have had an impact on foreigners. David Goldfarb, founder and creative director of studio at the outsiders, said on Bluesky that “all of us” at the studio had been assigned by layoffs, which means that “our 10 -year studio will close”. The team will “try to continue in a new form,” he said. “Change is always difficult and right now we are all suffering.”

Funcom did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
