PENSACOLA, Fla. — An 8-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed a 1-year-old girl and injured a 2-year-old girl Sunday at a Florida motel, authorities said.
The boy’s father left the gun holstered in the closet of his motel room in Pensacola. After leaving the room, her son found her and fired a bullet that went through and killed the baby and hit the toddler, Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons told a news conference Monday.
The children who were shot belonged to the father’s girlfriend.
The toddler should recover, Simmons said.
