A 71-year-old man faces murder and arson charges after police say a woman was found stabbed in a burning house in Vaughan.
York Regional Police said officers were called to help with a structure fire near Parktree Drive and Lucena Crescent on Friday evening around 7:45 p.m.

Inside the house, officers found an unconscious woman. She was taken to hospital and pronounced dead.
A post-mortem examination confirmed that Naheed Askaryar, 64, died from stab wounds.
Mohammad Askaryar was arrested on Friday and is charged with life-threatening first-degree murder and arson.
