A 36-year-old Montreal-area man faces multiple possible charges following a collision on Highway 50 on Tuesday night after a car slammed into a light post and entered a ditch.
Seven other cars were damaged after running over the lamppost which had fallen back onto the freeway.
The Sûreté du Québec highway patrol section was called to the scene around 11:30 p.m. following calls from an accident involving several vehicles on the highway.
They found the suspect’s car in the ditch.
There are no casualties.
The suspect was released on a promise to appear on summons.
Police allege the driver’s blood alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit.
His driver’s license is automatically suspended for 90 days.
