2 dead from gunshot wounds in Sudbury, Ont., hotel, police say


Two men were killed at a hotel in Sudbury, Ont., on Tuesday morning, and three people are in custody, police say.

Greater Sudbury Police said in a news release that they arrived at the Travelodge Hotel on the corner of Walford Road and Paris Street shortly after 2 a.m. after receiving reports of beatings. fire.

Two men were found with gunshot wounds. A 27-year-old man was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The police did not release his name. They did not identify the second man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the coroner’s office would conduct autopsies to confirm the cause of death and the identity of the second man.

Police arrested three people after the incident, but determined that two of them were not involved in the double homicide. The police, however, accused them of stealing a vehicle.

Police arrested the third person, a 33-year-old man, based on an outstanding warrant for breach of probation.

According to the police, the man had two firearms on him. The man faces a number of charges, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, reckless use of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and disobeying a restraining order.

Police said they believe the double homicide was a targeted and isolated incident.
