15 departments still on orange alert

Météo France updated this Thursday evening its orange vigilance for thunderstorms which concerned many departments ranging from the Massif to the Grand Est. So it is no longer 26 but 15 departments that are on alert.

The stormy activity shifts towards the North-East quarter this Thursday evening. Cumulative rains of 40 to 60mm in less than 40 minutes were observed. Hail is sometimes present but small. 103 km / h in gusts were measured in Lyon (Rhône).

The departments concerned are as follows: Ardennes, Marne, Aube, Yonne, Meuse, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Moselle, Bas-Rhin, Aveyron, Tarn, Ardèche, Drôme, Isère, Savoie and Haute-Savoie.

Hailstorms and intense precipitation

The thunderstorms this Thursday evening will be accompanied by violent phenomena. Locally heavy hailstorms are expected, intense accumulations of precipitation, occasionally reaching 30 to 50 mm in less than an hour, strong gusts of wind that can reach values ​​of 70 to 90 km/h.

Tomorrow Friday, an episode of sometimes violent thunderstorms will begin in the Ardèche in the morning, it will reach Drôme, Isère and Savoie around midday. These storms may also be accompanied by hail, violent gusts of wind and very heavy rain. On this situation, there is a risk of large hail.
